Time, Time, Time...your dancer will need it!
Connecting with the right schools and coaches is a MUST as you start to near the end of your Junior Year.
Some coaches and teams are requiring a first audition/recruitment submission by early Summer.
Some require a connection and interest form early in the process.
Traveling to schools and clinics all over will not benefit the dancer if
1. the program is not academically a school that is attainable
2. the program/school cost is not something that financially suits the family (remember even with loans you are capped to $5500.00 freshman year, $6500.00 sophomore year and parent loans will then be utilized).
3. the dance team is not the correct fit.
Make sure you have the ability to TRAIN for a collegiate team.
This has become VERY competitive.
For most teams dancers need strong technique, tricks and having the knowledge and training in gameday and pom is extremely helpful.
You NEED the time to connect to teams and coaches.
SeniorYear is VERY stressful, alleviate this stress for your dancer.
Be realistic about the journey and the process.
Allow them to have time for school, experiences, friends AND THE PROCESS.
Dancers need the time to dedicate to putting together great quality reels and audition tapes!
So often I hear that there is no time between training and competitions and the dancer is exhausted or too busy. Dancers rush through important parts and concepts to making a team. These should not be rushed. Set up your year to give your best quality towards making a team :)
Decide your journey and not anyone else!
Be your best and give yourself the opportunity to be your best!
